Expedition to Oz

Cape Range

The team parks on a coastal plain vegetated with hummocks of dry grass and low bushes.

Paul Hearty stands atop a giant coral, marking sea level deep in the past.

The team spots clear evidence of shorelines in the region around Exmouth, known as the Cape Range. They find no shells, their preferred fossils for dating. Instead, they discover a fossil coral reef 28 to 37 feet above present sea level. Core samples of the coral will be dated later.
